About Kate
Kate Maclurcan/Atkinson is a contemporary Australian artist living in the Upper Kiewa Valley who is well known for her paintings of birds, still life and semi- abstract landscapes, built up with subtle colours and layers of luminous glazes.
Kate is currently working on a series of semi abstract oil paintings. These works are an exploration of the evocative qualities and relationships within colour, the range and subtlety of light, and the originality contained within brush marks and mark making.
She paints with fluidity and imagination. Colour, composition and tonal values are the anchors in her painting process.
Kate has recently launched her new business, Mountain Arts Contemporary and is developing the inaugural Alpine Arts Trail for the Upper Kiewa Valley, to be held in June 2025. Kate has exhibited widely and teaches individuals and groups, both privately and publicly.
